With all of the talk recently about HH's Alma-Mater, it made me realize that I haven't traveled back to my college roots in awhile. This past weekend, it just so happened that a fiery, red headed college buddy of mine came into town to visit. So we only thought it appropriate that we check out our old stomping grounds. As we creeped into the Official College Rodeo Facilities, we could hear Brittany Spears, "Circus" echoing off the never ending line of trailers. We knew that some type of practice was occurring. Yet low and behold, there happened to be something ten times better, it was "College Rodeo Jackpot" taking place. Oh the memories, it seems like just yesterday we were loading up the horses and heading out at mid-night, off to represent MVC at one of the numerous southern locations 500 miles away. Roger was my main man back in those days, what a stud he was (not literally)! Those feisty Barrel Horse's were the first to take center stage. There was a strong sense of team spirit that was presented throughout the crowd. Valley will Roll, Baby! Lets get down to the Nitty-Gritty with some roping action, shall we? Pardon me, I am getting ahead of myself, we must warm our horses up first! Round up the calves Cowboys! Then you sit on our horse and attempt to look pretty, while occasionally twrilling our ropes, making sure that there are no kinks in your lasso (or maybe that was just my ritual?). Try to keep everyone awake and alert at all times. But what ever you do, don't forget to tie the end of your rope on the saddle horn. It is Breakaway Roping after all. Double check that your roping chute is working properly. Once you have all of your ducks in a row. Its game time.
Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously
Program Note: FF apologizes for not featuring any of the male events. Calf Roping was taking place at straight up noon, and that is what time our baby (or mama) gets really hungry. So we had to skip watching the manly timed events. My apologizes again.
